In an effort to understand and assess current needs we ask that first time visitors fill out a form and provide proof of residency. During our pantry times, all clients will meet with Refuge volunteers to provide support and encouragement.
Those utilizing services at the Refuge must follow and meet several guidelines.
* Recipient must show accurate Identification (driver's license or ID card)
*Recipient must show accurate proof of residency for Johnson County or the other permitted zip codes. This can be a driver's license or a current piece of mail.

On the 5th Thursday of the month the pantry will be closed to allow for staff and volunteer training to better equip those serving or assisting clients. For 2025 these trainings will be on January 30, May 29, July 31 and October 30.
Details will be shared via WhenToHelp and Pantry Announcements, along with reminders on social media.
Weather Closing
When roads or temperatures are hazardous the pantry will be closed.Check WISH-TV, Channel 8, Fox 59, Social Media and the Refuge website for pantry cancellations.Volunteers will receive a message from WhenToHelp.
The Refuge currently offers nonperishable and fresh food, along with personal hygiene products, to residents of Johnson County through our pantry.
We also hold special seasonal events such as Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents/shopping.
Plans are underway to soon add additional services for those in need.
