2024 Update
We have been in our new space for 4 years. We have an aggressive goal to pay off our loan by 3/28/25. Check out our plan HERE. We feel it is the best steward of what God has given us by becoming debt free as soon as possible. This will provide other opportunities in the future to expand more services. We ask that you prayerfully consider joining us in this challenge. If you feel so lead you may make a donation HERE.

2023 Update
Wow! We are already launched into 2023 and things are happening. With the recent storms, we have connected with our neighbors in Whiteland to help where we can. As the school year winds down, we are finishing our after-school program with the excitement to help in the fall bigger and better.
We are working hard to add a hood range to our kitchen so that we can cook more meals and help more families. We have a separate giving fund for this need as it will be over $35,000. If you know of any businesses, companies or families that are able to give in this way click here to donate.
We are continuing to work towards being debt free by April of 2025. If you have the means to help, or know of a grant that would help, please let us know. This is a capital campaign and a lot of grants don't help with a building fund. We feel that once we are debt free we can truly look at where God wants us to serve more. One area we would ask that you pray about is expanding to have more space to offer additional services to our clients, as well as space to accept furniture donations to have available when there is a family in need.
Here's to 2023! We pray that you stay safe and healthy and come along side us to serve more families to impact the Kingdom for His glory! God Bless!!

2022 is here and now!
In late 2021 we were able to make a large payment on the building loan toward the goal of paying off the loan within 5 years. Additionally, we are starting back the elementary age after-school program this winter; which includes actively working on permits and establishing a timeline to get the playground and fence installed. Continue to pray for our community as we all navigate COVID, and seek out the best ways we can serve the needs of our community. Thank You for your part in this ministry!

We are all settled in and working to support those in need in Johnson County during these challenging times. The next item in our plans is to put in a playground for our after school care program that we hope to reopen in early 2021. Additionally, we have a small loan that was used to complete the construction needed to make the building our home. Our goal is have it paid in full within 5 years.
Thank you for all the prayers and support you have generously blessed us with throughout our history and in particular during this process to move into our forever home. Please continue to pray for us as well as how you can partner with us to continue to be a Refuge to those in need.

We have moved! We are so excited to have opened for normal pantry / office hours beginning Monday July 20.
We ask you to continue to prayerfully consider joining us in this journey as we work to finish up all that is needed to fulfill all that was planned.

Now that we are the proud, yet humble owners of the property at 1150 South Park Drive, construction is well underway! Included in the construction is private client consultation rooms, kitchen and dining room to allow hot meal service during pantry hours, and a large room for afterschool care.
Plans for packing up and moving to occur in early July, are in the works. At this time we are in need of assistance in packing up at our current location. If you are free and would like to help on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 - 11:30, please contact Stacie Ruff sruff@therefugeinc.com.
As part of move activities volunteers are needed to work a garage sale on Thursday July, 9 from 9 - 10:30, of items we will not be taking to the new building. We will also need to clean the current building following the move out on Wednesday July 15th. Let us know if you are able to help!
We are not done yet! Beyond the help to pack up, move and unpack we are still in need of partners to help us complete this project in its entirety which includes a playground for after school care, and expansion of services. We ask that you prayerfully consider how to support those in need in our community.
Continue reading more about our journey and vision along with a few shots of construction progress.
Again we thank you for your support to get us to this point and for future blessings.

Over the years The Refuge has been blessed with wonderful rental spaces for our pantry and services provided through our ministry. However, paying rent adds to our expenses which limits the services we can provide. The staff and board have determined that in an effort to meet the desire and need to expand services and continue being good stewards we need to purchase a property. The property at 1150 South Park Drive, Greenwood, IN 46143 was available. Recently the Refuge was able to purchase this through support raised through this campaign. Construction will begin soon on several updates needed before we can move in an allow us to further our mission.
With this additional space it will allow us the resources to add services such as; a kitchen to prepare and serve hot meals during our open pantry times, outdoor space and classrooms to host an after school program which will offer elementary students tutoring and mentoring, and classroom to offer life skill classes such as; budgeting, interviewing, resume writing, and computer skills.
We ask that you prayerfully consider joining us in this journey to move the The Refuge into a forever home.
